About Paula DuPont, owner:
For nearly 30 years I worked in journalism and communications. Along the way, I earned an MBA, ran my own consulting business, raised money and volunteered for several charities and nonprofits. However, my most fulfilling job has been in raising my three beautiful children and being there as a daughter to my parents in whatever way they needed me.
Peace of Mind allows me to draw the best qualities from both my professional and personal life. Among the skills and qualities from my professional background are organizational skills, resourcefulness, attention to detail and knowing how to listen and learn what is important to people. Most importantly, from my personal life, this work taps my passion for helping people and making their lives a little easier. This combination of skills, experience and passion are what set Peace of Mind apart.
The Peace of Mind story

My mom lived in a two-story, four-bedroom house for 50-plus years and resisted moving, even as life dealt more reasons for her to move. Her adult children had homes of their own, my dad had moved into a nursing facility and then passed away, and my mom became increasingly more dependent on her wheelchair and less able to go to other levels of the house. The house seemed to be constantly requiring new systems and major repairs. Despite her age and needing a wheelchair, she enjoyed good health and a sharp mind. She was fiercely independent.
My siblings and I respected her wishes and arranged for her to get whatever services or accommodations she needed to stay safely in her home until the point when she decided she was ready to move.
The toughest part: Deciding you’re ready to move
That was the first, tough part–deciding to move. Next, was paring down 92 years’ worth of
possessions and memories to move to a two-bedroom apartment. I helped her navigate the
process and took care of what she couldn’t. All she needed to do was move into her new home,
where everything was unpacked and set up, including curtains, rugs, wall hangings, utilities, etc.
It was an honor to do that for my mother—to ease a burden for her considering all the times
she had done that for me. She knew she could count on me to handle the details and I made it a
mission to take as much stress from the process as I could.
Now, that is the mission of Peace of Mind Moving Managers LLC, to help others make a smooth
move to a new, more joyful and manageable life.
P.S. Though my mom downsized her belongings, her social life and sense of security grew
dramatically. She enjoyed dinner with her new friends every night, played Scrabble and poker
and enjoyed the freedom of impromptu outings with friends and family.
